A 0% instalment plan can still cost more than the price on the receipt. Before converting a card purchase, compare the amount you will repay, the length of the plan and what happens if you close it early. The fee and eligibility rules depend on the specific bank and offer.

## Start with the total, then look at the monthly payment

The monthly payment needs to fit your budget. The total repayment shows what the purchase costs after the plan's charges. Check both figures before confirming a conversion; a smaller monthly payment can still come with the same total cost.

Emirates NBD's [credit-card key facts statement](https://www.emiratesnbd.com/en/kfs/credit-card) lists an AED 51.45 processing fee per transaction for a 0% instalment plan. Its [0% plan request page](https://www.emiratesnbd.com/en/self-service/zero-percent-installment-payment-plan-request) says that the fee **could** apply. Check the charge shown for your transaction before accepting a plan. The bank also distinguishes its 0% merchant plan from regular instalment and balance-conversion plans that carry interest.

ADCB's [Slice terms](https://www.adcb.com/en/personal/general/slice.aspx) describe another option: eligible purchases made with an ADCB credit card at a Network International point-of-sale terminal can be split into four or eight instalments at 0% interest and with no plan fee. The option must appear at the terminal during the purchase. Its four-month option starts at AED 100; the eight-month option starts at AED 1,000.

## The same AED 3,000 purchase under two plans

For an AED 3,000 purchase with no other charges, the AED 51.45 fee listed in Emirates NBD's KFS produces the first total below. The fee-free column shows the total if a qualifying no-fee plan is offered for the purchase.

| Cost | 0% plan with AED 51.45 fee | Eligible 0% plan with no fee |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Purchase price | AED 3,000 | AED 3,000 |
| Plan processing fee | AED 51.45 | AED 0 |
| Total to repay | **AED 3,051.45** | **AED 3,000** |
| Extra cost above the purchase price | **AED 51.45** | **AED 0** |

AED 3,000 plus AED 51.45 comes to AED 3,051.45. The plan's billing terms determine when the processing fee is due, and the term you select determines each instalment. An eligible four-month, fee-free split of AED 3,000 would divide the purchase principal into AED 750 a month. Check the bank's displayed schedule for your actual dates and amounts.

## Check rewards and early closure

Converting a purchase can affect rewards. Emirates NBD says rewards are forfeited on transactions converted to its 0% plan, then lists exceptions for particular cards and merchant spending. For example, its [request page](https://www.emiratesnbd.com/en/self-service/zero-percent-installment-payment-plan-request) names noon One card spending on noon among the exceptions. Read the rule for your card and purchase before treating the original rewards estimate as part of the saving. A card benefit that disappears on conversion changes the effective cost even when the plan fee is zero.

Early settlement is another decision point. The [Emirates NBD KFS](https://www.emiratesnbd.com/en/kfs/credit-card) lists a charge for closing an instalment plan early, and [ADCB's Slice page](https://www.adcb.com/en/personal/general/slice.aspx) also lists a foreclosure charge. If you expect to return the item, refinance the balance or clear it before the plan ends, check the relevant cancellation and refund terms first. A plan that looks inexpensive when kept to term may work differently when closed early.

## A checkout checklist that takes one minute

1. **Add up the cost.** Note the purchase price, the plan's total repayment and any processing or early-closure charge.
2. **Check the schedule.** Record the number of instalments and the first payment date shown by the bank.
3. **Confirm the offer.** Check that your specific card, merchant and transaction meet its rules.
4. **Check your statement.** Make sure the payments fit alongside the rest of your statement. Paying only the card's minimum can still leave other balances attracting charges; our [minimum-payment explainer](https://kredit.ae/blog/minimum-credit-card-payments-in-the-uae-explained) covers that separate issue.
5. **Compare promotions.** For a shopping promotion, compare the final discounted checkout price before spreading it over time. Our [White Friday checkout guide](https://kredit.ae/blog/white-friday-credit-card-shopping-uae) shows a basket example.
6. **Check rewards and overall value.** If merchant classification determines a reward category, use the [MCC checking guide](https://kredit.ae/blog/how-to-check-merchant-mcc-before-you-pay-uae). To compare the card's broader value after fees, try the [ROI guide](https://kredit.ae/blog/credit-card-roi-calculator-uae) and [calculator](https://kredit.ae/credit-cards/calculator).
