Blue Rewards by Al-Futtaim

Blue Rewards is the loyalty programme of Al-Futtaim Group, which operates IKEA, ACE Hardware, Marks & Spencer, Toys R Us and Dubai Festival City in the UAE, alongside its automotive and education businesses. Members earn by scanning a Blue ID at the till, and the FAB Blue co-branded credit cards add a far larger reward on the same purchase.

Compare all Blue Rewards cards

How Blue Rewards works

There are two rewards on an Al-Futtaim purchase, and they come from different places. The card earns Al-Futtaim FAB Rewards automatically on the transaction — 8%, 6% or 5% of the amount by card tier. The app adds a further 1% when you scan your Blue ID at the till, which is a separate programme and only lands if you remember to scan.

That is why FAB advertises a higher combined figure than the card alone pays. Al-Futtaim FAB Rewards accrue as points at 200 rewards = AED 1 and are capped at a monthly value of AED 4,000, AED 3,000 or AED 2,000 by tier. Spend outside Al-Futtaim earns 1%, and FAB's selected categories — groceries, fuel, transport, government services, utility bills, education, insurance, charity and rent — earn 0.15%. Carrefour and the Majid Al Futtaim malls fall outside the programme altogether; those run on SHARE.

Al-Futtaim FAB Rewards

250AED

50,000 rewards via Statement credit

Credited against the Blue FAB card balance via FAB Mobile or Internet Banking, or put toward a utility bill

Based on the issuer’s published redemption rate; catalogue pricing and availability can still vary.

Al-Futtaim FAB Rewards accrue at 200 rewards = AED 1, and FAB's own terms cap them at a monthly value of AED 4,000, AED 3,000 or AED 2,000 depending on card tier. Rewards can be taken as a statement credit against the card, spent at the till in selected Al-Futtaim outlets, put toward e-vouchers or a utility bill, or converted to Emirates Skywards or Etihad Guest miles. They expire two years from the end of the month in which they were earned.

Because the statement-credit route is a straight one-to-one conversion, the earn rate on this page is the value: 8% back really is AED 8 per AED 100 spent at IKEA. There is no premium redemption to hunt for.

The two legs differ in where the value can go. The card's rewards leave the Al-Futtaim estate — a statement credit or a utility bill is a documented route. The 1% earned in the Blue app is Al-Futtaim credit, spendable only at the group's own brands. That asymmetry is worth knowing before treating the advertised combined rate as cash.

Living with Blue Rewards

Blue Rewards is a furnishing-and-household programme rather than an everyday one. The spending it rewards is lumpy — a kitchen from IKEA, a season of school uniforms from Marks & Spencer, tools from ACE — which is exactly the pattern that makes a free card worth holding even if it sits unused for months at a time.

What it does not reward is the weekly shop. Groceries fall into FAB's 0.15% selected-category bucket, and because Carrefour is a supermarket the Blue cards earn almost nothing there. The two programmes are complements: Blue Rewards for the Al-Futtaim stores, SHARE for Carrefour and the Majid Al Futtaim malls.

Why Blue Rewards cards are worth it

1.

Every tier is free for life

None of the three FAB Blue cards charges a joining or annual fee, including the Infinite. Your salary changes the earn rate and the monthly ceiling, not the cost — so there is no downside to taking the highest tier you qualify for.

2.

The highest retail earn rate in the UAE

8% back at Al-Futtaim retail brands is a rate no general cashback card comes close to. The nearest flat-rate alternatives return 2% to 3% on the same purchase, so on a large furnishing order the difference runs into hundreds of dirhams.

3.

The headline rate includes a leg you have to claim

The advertised 9%, 7% and 6% add a 1% Blue-app reward to the card's 8%, 6% or 5%. That extra leg requires scanning your Blue ID at the till — it is a separate programme, and it does not land automatically.

4.

It is not the Majid Al Futtaim programme

Blue Rewards does not cover Carrefour, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre or VOX Cinemas. Those are Majid Al Futtaim venues and earn through SHARE. A FAB Blue card at Carrefour earns 0.15%, because supermarkets sit in FAB's reduced-rate category list.

Blue Rewards by Al-Futtaim — FAQ

Get answers to common questions about credit cards, applications, and managing your finances in the UAE

FAB Blue Infinite, at 8% back in Al-Futtaim FAB Rewards, with no annual fee and a AED 4,000 monthly rewards cap. It needs AED 40,000 monthly salary; below that, FAB Blue Signature pays 6% from AED 15,000 and FAB Blue Platinum 5% from AED 8,000. See the full comparison for IKEA.

200 rewards = AED 1. Taken as a statement credit it is a straight one-to-one conversion, so the card's earn rate is also its value — 8% back is AED 8 per AED 100 spent. Rewards expire two years from the end of the month they were earned in.

FAB's Al-Futtaim retail list covers IKEA, ACE Hardware, Marks & Spencer, Toys R Us, Ted Baker, Guess, Robinsons, Kate Spade, Watsons and Al-Futtaim Watches. Al-Futtaim's other businesses — its schools and its car marques such as Volvo, Honda, Jeep and Lexus — sit in a lower band.

Because it adds two rewards together: 8% credited to the card as Al-Futtaim FAB Rewards, plus 1% credited in the Blue app when you scan your Blue ID at checkout. The 8% posts automatically on the transaction; the 1% needs the scan.

Only 0.15%. Carrefour is a Majid Al Futtaim business and codes as a supermarket, which is one of FAB's selected categories. For Carrefour and the Majid Al Futtaim malls you want a SHARE card instead — the two programmes are complements.

Yes. Al-Futtaim mall gift cards bought at Dubai Festival Plaza or Dubai Festival City earn nothing under FAB's terms, along with fees, interest, cash advances, balance transfers and reversed transactions.
