CBD Al Islami Savings Account is a Sharia-compliant savings account built on Mudaraba, a profit-sharing partnership. You supply the money and the bank manages it. Your balance joins a common pool that the bank invests in Sharia-compliant financing and investment activities, and the profit that pool makes is shared between the bank and depositors in a ratio agreed in advance. Because the return comes from real results, the profit rate is not fixed beforehand and the bank does not guarantee the deposit: a loss would be carried by depositors in proportion to what they put in. Day to day it behaves like an ordinary savings account, with a free debit card, standing instructions and transfers, in AED, USD, GBP or EUR.

Fees and balance

There is no monthly fall-below fee on this account. The AED 5,000 figure does a different job here: it is the minimum average credit balance your account needs to take part in the Mudaraba profit. Keep your average under AED 5,000 and no charge is taken, but that balance does not share in the profit distribution. The one charge to plan for is closure. If you close the account within six months of opening, the bank charges AED 105. The first five working days are a cooling-off period, and closure charges in that window are refunded.

In plain words

Profit rate
An Islamic account does not pay interest. It pays you a share of what the bank earns on your money. The profit rate is that share as a yearly percentage of your balance. More on this
Balance bands
The rate changes with how much you hold. Each band is a range of balance with its own rate. More on this
Which balance counts
The return is worked out on your average balance across the quarter, so money held for only part of the quarter counts in proportion. More on this
New funds
Money you add on top of what you already held with the bank. A rate marked for new funds is paid on that added amount only, not on your existing balance. More on this
Conditional rate
A rate that applies only while you meet the condition listed beside it. When the condition is not met, that rate is not paid. More on this
Declared rate
The bank announces the profit rate for each period after the period ends. The rate shown is the one announced for Q1 2026. More on this

Good to know

Good option for

Savers who want a Sharia-compliant account with card access and quarterly profit, and who will hold at least AED 5,000 on average so the balance takes part in the profit pool.

Consider another account if

You need a known return or a guaranteed balance. Profit here follows the pool's results. A CBD Al Islami Wakala Investment Deposit quotes an expected profit rate up front for a set term.

How the bank steadies quarterly profit

The actual profit depends on what the pool earns in the quarter. CBD Al Islami also keeps part of depositors' profit in a reserve, called the Investment Risk Reserve, which it uses to keep payouts close to the expected rate for current and future depositors.

Yes. It operates under the Sharia principle of Mudaraba. Your deposit is pooled and invested in Sharia-compliant activities, and the profit is shared between the bank and depositors in a pre-agreed ratio. Profit is calculated on your quarterly average balance and distributed quarterly.

Profit rates are not set in advance. For the first quarter of 2026 the declared rates were 0.54% a year on balances below AED 1,000,000, 0.56% from AED 1,000,000 and 0.57% from AED 10,000,000.

You need an average credit balance of at least AED 5,000 for the account to participate in Mudaraba profit. There is no fall-below fee on this account.

No. Under Mudaraba the deposit is not guaranteed by the bank, and any loss is borne by depositors in proportion to their investment. The guaranteed option at CBD Al Islami is the Current Account, which pays no profit.

Yes. For CBD Islamic customers the campaign covers Savings Accounts only. Opt in by SMS, sending INDP to 4266 from your registered mobile number, by 31 January 2027.
