ADIB Amwali is a first bank account for children and teenagers, set up so the child uses it and the parent watches over it. A legal guardian or custodian opens it in the ADIB mobile app for a UAE-resident child aged 8 to 18. The child then gets their own Amwali app and debit card. They can receive allowances and gifts, track spending, send money for free to friends who also have Amwali, and build savings in separate Amwali Goal Accounts. The guardian sees the account, sets the card's limits and approves the child's online transactions from their own ADIB app. The account is a Mudaraba savings account in AED and is for personal use only.

Ages 8 to 18

Available to UAE-resident children between 8 and 18 years old.

Guardian opens the account

Only the legal guardian or custodian can apply, through the ADIB Mobile App.

Fees and balance

Amwali is never charged a fall-below fee, even when the balance reaches zero. The first debit card is free, and a replacement card is charged. Transfers to other Amwali accounts are free, while transfers to other accounts follow ADIB's standard transfer charges and daily limits. Cash withdrawals at ADIB ATMs are free within the limit the guardian sets. Closing the account within 6 months of opening costs AED 105.

Fall-below fee

Free

Account closure fee

AED 105

Charged only within 6 months of opening.

In plain words

Account closure fee
A one-off charge of AED 105 for closing the account within 6 months of opening it. Closing it later costs nothing. More on this

Profit

A minimum of AED 5,000 qualifies for profit, paid on the first day of the following calendar month.

How your profit is worked out

Amwali shares profit under Mudaraba: the bank invests the balance and passes on a share of what is achieved. The balance has to be at least AED 5,000 to qualify. Profit is calculated monthly and paid on the first day of the following calendar month. Pocket-money balances under AED 5,000 earn nothing, so at that level the account is a tool for learning to spend and save, not a source of profit.

Benefits

Your child is under 8, or you want a savings pot that only you operate. ADIB Banoon is run by the adult and is open to any child under 18.

What happens at 18
