Minimum deposit
AED 25,000

DIB Retail Wakala Deposit is a Sharia-compliant term deposit from AED 25,000 for 1 to 24 months, with expected profit paid when the term ends.
An existing account with DIB is required, such as DIB Al Islami Current Account.
The Retail Wakala Deposit is DIB's main dirham term deposit. You place a single lump sum of AED 25,000 or more for 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 or 24 months, and the profit arrives in one payment when the term ends. Wakala means agency. You appoint the bank as your agent to invest the money, and the bank takes an agreed agency fee for doing so. When you book, the bank tells you the profit rate it expects, based on what its Wakala investments have earned before. You need a DIB current or savings account to hold one, and the deposit can be held jointly or opened for a minor. A dollar version exists as the USD Wakala Deposit.

The band your amount falls in sets the rate on the whole deposit. An expected rate is a target the bank sets from past results, not a fixed promise. If the investment earns less, you receive what it actually earned. If it earns more, the bank may keep the difference as a performance incentive.
Automatic Renewal Option
You can instruct the bank to reinvest the principal for another period of equal length at maturity.
Deposits for Minors
The deposit can be opened for a minor.

People with AED 25,000 or more that they will not need for a set period, who want a Sharia-compliant deposit with the rate quoted up front.
You may need the money before the term ends, since early withdrawal cuts the expected profit, or you want income during the term. The Monthly Profit Payment Wakala Deposit pays out every month.
You can ask to liquidate through online or mobile banking or at a branch. The request must cover the full deposit, not part of it. For AED 1 million or more, the bank requires five working days' notice.
You decide at booking whether the bank should reinvest the principal for the same tenure or close the deposit. A renewed deposit takes the expected rate prevailing on the renewal date.
