Existing FAB account
You must hold a FAB current, savings or call account to fund the deposit.

FAB Fixed Deposit holds your money for 7 days to 12 months at a rate agreed up front, from AED 5,000. Interest is paid at maturity. FAB account needed.
An existing account with FAB is required, such as FAB Personal Current Account.
A fixed deposit is a simple trade: you hand the bank a sum for a set period, and in return the interest rate is agreed on the day you book and does not change. With the FAB Fixed Deposit the period, called the tenure, runs from 7 days to 12 months, and the smallest deposit is AED 5,000.
You cannot open one on its own. You need a FAB current, savings or call account first, because the deposit is funded from that account and the money returns to it at the end, in the same currency. Residents and non-residents can both apply. For terms longer than a year, FAB offers the Smart Deposit.

Interest is paid at maturity. No partial withdrawal. Early withdrawal within 7 days pays no interest; thereafter the rate is 50% of the booking-date published slab for the actual holding period. Every premature withdrawal costs AED 105.

Two things set your rate: how long you commit and how much you place. Unlike a banded savings account, the rate for your size band applies to the entire deposit.
Interest is paid together with your original sum. It is simple interest, so it is not added to the deposit and compounded during the term.
Eight Deposit Currencies
Deposits can be placed in dirhams or a foreign currency, starting from AED 5,000 or USD 1,500.
Joint Ownership
A fixed deposit can be held jointly.
Money you are sure you will not need for a known period of up to a year, when you want the return settled in advance.
You might need the money before the term ends, or you want interest paid out during the term. This deposit pays only at maturity. The FAB iSave Account keeps savings available at any time.
You cannot take out part of a fixed deposit. The bank may allow you to break the whole deposit early, and every early withdrawal costs AED 105. If you withdraw within 7 days of booking, you receive no interest. After 7 days, interest is paid for the days the money was held, at half of the rate the bank published on your booking date for a deposit of that shorter length.
If you use the deposit as security for a loan or other credit product, you cannot access the money until that borrowing is closed.
