ruya Mudaraba Term Deposit is a profit-sharing Islamic deposit from AED 5,000 for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Profit is paid after the quarterly declaration.
An existing account with Ruya is required, such as ruya Current Account.
A Mudaraba Term Deposit is a profit-sharing deposit. Mudaraba is a partnership: you put in the money, ruya invests it together with its own funds in Sharia-compliant activities, and the profit is split between you and the bank in a ratio announced in advance. No rate is quoted to you at the start. You find out what the deposit earned when the bank declares its profit for the quarter.
That is the main difference from the ruya Wakala Investment Deposit, where the bank acts as your agent and quotes an expected profit rate up front. Both start at AED 5,000, are in AED only, and need a ruya Current or Savings Account to link to. Mudaraba terms are 1, 3, 6 or 12 months.

The rates shown are the most recently declared ones. They tell you what earlier deposits earned. Your own deposit earns whatever the bank declares for the quarters it runs through, and no profit or rate is guaranteed. Losses in the investment pool can be deducted from the deposit, unless the bank was grossly negligent or acted with wilful misconduct.
Profit counts from the business day after the deposit is funded. It is paid after the quarterly profit declaration that follows maturity, so it arrives later than the day the term ends.
ruya customers who want a profit-sharing Islamic deposit and are comfortable learning the return when the bank declares it.
You want an expected rate before you commit, or you want profit paid on the maturity date itself. Compare other Islamic accounts.
You cannot take out part of the deposit, and closing it early needs ruya's consent. If the bank agrees and the deposit has run for less than 30 days, no profit is paid. After 30 days, profit is recalculated at a reduced rate for the days the money was held, and any profit already paid above that amount is taken back from the proceeds.
When you apply, you choose whether the money returns to your linked account at the end of the term. If you do not choose that, the deposit renews automatically. A deposit cannot be increased, but you can hold several at once.
