ADIB Electron Account is a simple Sharia-compliant current account for new UAE residents, which you can open while your residency is still in process.
ADIB Electron Account is a basic current account built for people who have just moved to the UAE. You can apply while your residency is still under process, which is the main thing that separates it from the ADIB Current Account. You get a Visa debit card for spending and cash withdrawals, plus mobile, internet and SMS banking. It does not come with a cheque book. Like ADIB's other current account, it runs on Qard Hasan: the money you deposit counts as a loan to the bank, which must hand it back whenever you ask, and the balance earns no profit. You declare a monthly salary of AED 5,000 or more when you apply.
AED 5,000/month
Your first calendar month is free of any balance requirement, which gives a new arrival time to get a salary flowing in. After that, ADIB looks at the closing balance of every day. A month in which it stays at AED 3,000 or above costs nothing. A month in which it slips under AED 3,000 costs AED 26.25. If you opened after the 20th of a month, the first month the fee can apply is the third one. An account that pays an active ADIB auto, personal or home finance instalment is not charged, and neither is one that receives a pension. If you close the account in its first 6 months, there is an AED 105 closure fee.
