The monthly fee is AED 26.25, and the rule for avoiding it changes on 1 November 2026.

Until then, the fee is waived when your average monthly balance is AED 500 or more, or when you have made a transaction yourself in the last 3 months.

From 1 November 2026, you pay nothing in a month when you meet any one of three conditions: an average monthly balance of AED 3,000, debit card spending of AED 3,000, or a salary transfer of AED 5,000 or more into this account. If you meet none of them, the bank charges AED 26.25 for that month.

Closing the account within 6 months of opening costs AED 105. There is no closure fee if you cancel within the first 5 working days.

Good to know

Good option for

Residents earning AED 3,000 or more who want an app-opened account with a cheque book, and who will keep AED 3,000 in it, spend AED 3,000 on the card or transfer a salary of AED 5,000.

Consider another account if

You earn under AED 3,000 a month, or you want an account that stays free with no balance, spending or salary condition. See accounts with no minimum balance.

If your salary drops below AED 3,000

You must tell Mbank if your salary falls below AED 3,000 a month. The bank can then convert the Current Account to a Smart Account, which is a current account without a cheque book.

What can close the account

Mbank closes an account that has had no transactions for 180 days from the date it was opened. An account is also closed, and its holder blacklisted, when 4 cheques are returned unpaid for lack of funds within one year.

Yes, AED 26.25 a month, but it is waived when you meet the account's conditions. Until 31 October 2026 that means an average monthly balance of AED 500, or a transaction you made yourself in the last 3 months. A new set of conditions applies from 1 November 2026.

The waiver rule changes. The earlier rule, AED 500 or one self-initiated transaction in 3 months, ends on that date.

No. You need no deposit to open the account and there is no minimum balance to maintain. Your average balance only matters as one of the ways to have the monthly fee waived.

Yes to both. A virtual debit card appears in the Cards section of the app once the account is opened and verified, and you can ask for a physical card there. The first cheque book is free. After that the bank charges for cheque books.

Mbank says less than 5 minutes. You download the Mbank UAE app and open the account with UAE PASS, with no documents to submit and no branch visit.
