ruya Kids Savings is a savings account opened for a child by the father or legal guardian. The adult runs it through the ruya app until the child turns 18 and can top it up remotely. A debit card in the child's name can be issued if you apply for one, and the guardian is responsible for how it is used. There is no cheque book, no opening deposit and no minimum balance.

The adult must be a ruya customer first. If you are new to the bank, you complete ruya's normal sign-up and then add the child's account in the app. It is the children's version of the ruya Savings Account.

Consider another account if

You are not the child's father or legal guardian, or you do not want to open a ruya account yourself. Compare other Islamic accounts.

When the child turns 18

ruya sends reminders 90 days and 30 days before the child's 18th birthday. On that date the account converts to a standard Savings Account and is paused until the bank has completed its sign-up checks on the new adult. After that the young person runs the account alone, the guardian's access ends and the old debit card is cancelled.
