The ruya Savings Account is an Islamic savings account that earns profit, not a fixed return. It is built on Mudaraba, a partnership in which you provide the money and ruya invests it in Sharia-compliant activities. Whatever profit the investments make is split between you and the bank in shares the bank announces in advance. You can still pay in and withdraw at any time, and a debit card is available if you apply for one. There is no cheque book.

You need an active ruya Current Account before you can open one. There is no opening deposit, no minimum balance and no salary requirement.

In plain words

Profit rate
An Islamic account does not pay interest. It pays you a share of what the bank earns on your money. The profit rate is that share as a yearly percentage of your balance. More on this
Which balance counts
The return is worked out on the average of your daily balances across the calendar quarter, so money held for only part of the quarter counts in proportion. More on this
Declared rate
The bank announces the profit rate for each period after the period ends. The rate shown is the one announced for Q3 2026. More on this

A declared rate is what the bank distributed for a quarter that has ended. Profit depends on how the investments perform, so neither a rate nor a profit is guaranteed, and under the Mudaraba contract a loss in the investment pool can be deducted from your balance.

Money you pay in starts counting from the business day after it clears. If you close the account before the bank declares the quarter's profit, you do not receive profit for that quarter.
