How do I compare cash versus miles?

Subtract the taxes or cash co-pay you still owe on the award from the cash price, then divide that saving by the miles required. The result is the AED value you get from each mile on that specific redemption.

What is a good value per airline mile?

There is no universal number. Kredit compares your redemption with the current programme valuation used across the site, which is based on the published or editorially benchmarked redemption method for that currency. Should taxes and fees be included in an award comparison?

Yes. If an award still requires AED 500 in taxes and fees, the miles only replace the remainder of the cash fare. Ignoring the co-pay overstates the value of the redemption.

When should I pay cash and keep my miles?

If the value per mile on the award is below a realistic value you can achieve elsewhere, paying cash preserves the miles for a stronger redemption. The calculator shows that opportunity cost explicitly rather than treating miles as free.

Does the calculator include the miles or rewards I would earn by paying cash?

No. It compares the booking price and award value directly. Paying cash may also earn card rewards or airline miles, which makes cash slightly more attractive; treat that as an additional factor when two options are close.
