CBD Digital Current Account is the version of CBD's current account that you open yourself in the CBD mobile app instead of filling in a form. It is an AED account. You apply from a phone whose SIM card is registered in your own name, upload your Emirates ID, and enter your personal and work details. To finish, you present your Emirates ID and signature, and the bank issues the account's debit card. The balance rule is the one that applies to the CBD Current Account: an average of AED 5,000 a month, or one of the waiver conditions, keeps the account free.

Fees and balance

Each calendar month the bank works out your average balance. If it is below AED 5,000, a service fee of AED 105 is taken, unless one of these applied in that month: a salary transfer of AED 5,000 or more, an active CBD personal, auto or home loan, a funded CBD Investr account, or an account opened together with a CBD credit card. Two housekeeping rules come from the account terms. The bank can close the account if it sits at zero with no activity for 90 consecutive days, or if the monthly fee cannot be collected in full for 90 consecutive days. Closing the account yourself in the first six months costs AED 105, except in the first five working days.

In plain words

Fall-below fee
A monthly charge for holding less than the balance the bank asks for. Here it is AED 105, charged in a month when your average balance for the month is under AED 5,000. The average is taken over every day of the month, so a few low days do not trigger the fee on their own. It is not charged in a month when you stay at or above that amount. More on this
Account closure fee
A one-off charge of AED 105 for closing the account within 6 months of opening it. Closing it later costs nothing. Closing within the first 5 working days carries no charge either. More on this
Opening amount and minimum balance
The opening amount (AED 0) is what you pay in to start the account. The minimum balance is what you keep in it afterwards. More on this
