Citi Current Account is a cheque book account in AED or a major foreign currency. It pays no interest and costs AED 25 in months averaging under AED 3,000.
The Citi Current Account is the bank's everyday account for paying and getting paid. You can hold it in AED or in a major foreign currency, write cheques from it and use its debit card at ATMs and in shops. Money can be paid in and taken out at any time without notice. It pays no interest, which is the main difference from the Citi Savings Account: that one pays a small rate but has no cheque book. You manage the account through Citibank Online, the Citi Mobile app and 24-hour CitiPhone banking, and you open it in person at a Citi branch.

Citi looks at your average balance across the month, not the balance on a single day. If that average is AED 3,000 or more, the account costs nothing for the month. If it is lower, Citi charges AED 25 for that month. The rule is applied to each account on its own, so two Citi accounts each need their own AED 3,000 average. Citigold and Citigold Private Client customers are not charged. Cash withdrawals with the debit card are free at Citibank ATMs in the UAE and abroad, while ATMs of other banks carry the charge listed in Citi's Schedule of Charges.

You want a cheque book and a debit card on one account, you can keep an average of AED 3,000 in it, and you are comfortable opening it at a branch.
You want your balance to earn something, or you expect your average to sit under AED 3,000 in most months. The no minimum balance accounts list covers accounts without that rule.
If a cheque you write is returned unpaid because the account does not hold enough money, Citi may close the account in line with UAE law and report it to the UAE Central Bank. You then hand back any cheque books for the account.
