Wio Family Account is a joint AED account for two adults who already bank with Wio. Each lead gets cards, and children aged 8 to 17 can spend from Pockets.
An existing account with Wio is required, such as Wio Personal Current Account.
A Wio Family Account is a joint account owned by two people, called Family Leads. Both must already be Wio Personal customers, and one invites the other. Each lead can use the account alone, without the other's approval, and both are responsible for every transaction on it. It is held in AED only, has its own account number and IBAN, and each lead can create debit and virtual cards on it. There is no cheque book.
Leads can also invite Family Members. A member is a UAE resident aged 8 or over who gets a virtual card, linked either to the Family Account or to a Pocket, a pot of money the lead funds and controls. Members do not need their own Wio Personal Current Account.

Each Family Lead must hold a Wio Personal account before the joint account is opened.
The Family Account runs on the Family Plan, which costs AED 49 a month. You pay nothing in a month when the family's average balance is AED 35,000 or more. That balance is counted across both leads and all members: personal current accounts, Saving Spaces, the Family Account, Pockets, Family Saving Spaces and investments with Wio. The fee is also waived when one Wio customer in the family transfers a salary of at least AED 15,000.
The fee is taken from the Family Account. If it does not hold enough, Wio takes it from the current account of the lead who started the Family Plan.
AED 49

Pockets for Children
Give a child aged 8 to 17 a Pocket with a card of their own, funded and limited by a Family Lead.
Shared Virtual Cards for Adults
Family Leads can issue virtual cards on the Family Account to adult members aged 18 or over.
Fully digital, no branch visit
Account opening
Couples or relatives who already bank with Wio and want one account for shared bills, with cards for other adults and controlled spending money for children.
You need a cheque book or a joint account in a currency other than AED, or the other person is not a Wio customer. Compare current accounts.
Closing a Family Account needs both leads to agree. Wio does not act on a request from one lead alone, and all Pockets and Saving Spaces linked to the account must be closed first. Wio does not step into disputes between leads. If it learns of one, it can freeze the account until both leads give written instructions or a court order arrives. After closure, each lead's personal account carries on under its own plan.
To keep Family Plan benefits you need an active Family Account with another lead, a Pocket for a child, or a shared card for an adult member. Without one of these, Wio moves you to the Salary Plan if you receive a salary it accepts, or to the Plus Plan, by the end of the second full month after you chose the Family Plan.
