Best Minimum Salary for a Credit Card in the UAE

Best Minimum Salary for a Credit Card in the UAE

The baseline minimum salary for most UAE credit cards is AED 5,000 a month.

See cards

Banks set this floor as part of the affordability assessment required under UAE Central Bank consumer-protection standards. A few issuers may consider lower incomes on a secured basis, and premium tiers usually require more — typically from around AED 15,000, with the most exclusive cards higher still. The cards below unlock at the AED 5,000 entry tier; meeting a salary threshold is one eligibility condition, not a guarantee of approval.

Why choose Minimum Salary for a Credit Card in the UAE

1.

AED 5,000 is the usual minimum

Most mainstream UAE credit cards require a monthly salary of around AED 5,000. The figure comes from the bank's affordability assessment: UAE Central Bank standards require lenders to check that a customer can repay before granting credit, and AED 5,000 is where most issuers set the entry point.

2.

Below AED 5,000: debit, prepaid, BNPL, or secured

On a salary of AED 1,000–4,000 a mainstream unsecured card is usually out of reach. Realistic options are a debit or prepaid card that you fund yourself, a buy-now-pay-later card that splits purchases into interest-free instalments (subject to the provider's own eligibility check), a credit card secured against a fixed deposit, or applying at the bank where your salary is already paid.

3.

Around AED 5,000+: the entry tier

At AED 5,000 a wide set of no-annual-fee cashback and rewards cards from the major banks becomes available.

4.

Around AED 8,000+: the mid tier

Higher salaries open multi-category cashback, higher reward caps, and miles-earning cards — a step up from the entry level.

5.

AED 15,000 and above: premium

Signature, Visa Infinite, World Elite, and American Express Platinum tiers usually start from around AED 15,000 a month, and the most exclusive cards can require considerably more.

6.

Your salary is one factor, not a guarantee

Meeting a card's minimum salary is necessary but not sufficient. The bank also weighs your existing debt (its debt-burden-ratio limit), your AECB credit record, your employer, and your affordability before deciding. Approval and the credit limit remain the bank's decision.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Best Minimum Salary for a Credit Card in the UAE

For most UAE credit cards the minimum salary is around AED 5,000 a month. Entry-tier cards from AED 5,000 include Liv Cashback, ENBD noon One, Mashreq Cashback, Wio, and ADCB Essential. Premium tiers such as Visa Infinite, Mastercard World Elite, and American Express Platinum usually start from around AED 15,000, with the most exclusive cards requiring considerably more.

Mainstream unsecured credit cards usually need AED 5,000. Below that, a small number of banks may consider an application on a secured basis (against a fixed deposit), while debit and prepaid cards use your own money and buy-now-pay-later cards offer an interest-free instalment limit subject to the provider's eligibility check. See credit card options on a low salary for what is realistic and how to bridge to AED 5,000.

No. The minimum salary is one eligibility condition. The bank also assesses your affordability, existing obligations against its debt-burden-ratio limit, your AECB credit record, and its own lending policy. Approval and the credit limit are always the issuing bank's decision.

The lowest common entry point is AED 5,000. No-annual-fee options at that level include Liv Cashback, ENBD noon One, and Mashreq Cashback. Wio has no annual card fee but charges an AED 49/month plan fee unless waived by balance, and its rewards require an eligible Salary, Family, or Plus plan. Compare the full AED 5,000 salary list before applying, and confirm each card's current minimum with the bank.

UAE banks typically set an initial credit limit of around two to three times your monthly salary, but the limit is capped by the Central Bank's debt-burden-ratio rule (your total monthly debt repayments cannot exceed half your income). Your AECB record, existing obligations, and the bank's policy all affect the final limit.
