Compare UAE cards when the cost of carrying a balance matters more than rewards.
See cardsLast updated:
Conventional cards usually publish a monthly purchase or interest rate; Islamic cards may publish a monthly profit rate instead. APR is a separate annual disclosure and is not available for every product, so do not treat a monthly percentage and an APR as interchangeable. If you revolve a balance, compare the published monthly rate, annual fee and any balance-transfer alternative before rewards.
For the market-wide raw rate benchmark, use the UAE Credit Card Interest Rate Index. This page owns the decision: when a lower rate matters, how a balance transfer changes the maths, and which cards deserve closer comparison.

UAE credit card retail finance rates typically sit between 2.5% and 4% per month — roughly 30%–48% APR. The cheapest credit card is the one you never carry a balance on. If you can pay the statement in full each month, the headline rate is irrelevant.
Several UAE banks (Mashreq, ADCB, ENBD) run 0% balance-transfer promotions for limited periods on transferred balances. This is typically the cheapest way to pay down existing credit card debt — but watch the transfer fee (often 1–3% of the transferred amount) and the rate that applies after the promotional period.
Islamic credit cards (ADIB, Emirates Islamic, DIB, Al Hilal) structure their charges as a profit rate rather than conventional interest. The effective cost on a revolving balance can be lower than the equivalent conventional card — worth comparing if you can't always pay in full.
